Required Permissions

TalkDoc needs a few permissions to work properly. These are requested when you start your first recording, not at launch:

Microphone Access

TalkDoc records your voice, so it needs permission to use your device’s microphone. This is required to create documents.

Speech Recognition

The app uses on-device speech recognition to transcribe your voice as you speak. All transcription happens locally on your device - no audio leaves your phone.

Tip: Your voice never leaves your device. Transcription is fully on-device. Only the resulting transcript text is sent to our servers for document generation.

First Launch

When you open TalkDoc for the first time, you’ll see an animated splash screen with the TalkDoc wordmark and tagline. After a moment, you’ll arrive at the Documents screen, where you can tap the + button in the top-right corner to create your first document.

No account creation is required - TalkDoc is local-first and stores everything on your device.

Internet Connection

TalkDoc needs an active internet connection to generate documents. The app sends your transcribed notes to our servers, where AI transforms them into structured documents.

What’s Next?

Once the app is installed and permissions are set, you’re ready to create your first document. See Creating Your First Document for a step-by-step walkthrough.
