Keyboard Input
TalkDoc supports keyboard input as an alternative to voice recording, giving you flexibility in how you create documents.
The KeyboardMicFAB Toggle Button
When recording a document, you’ll see a toggle button labeled with keyboard and microphone icons in the bottom-right corner of your screen (the KeyboardMicFAB). Tap this button to switch between voice and keyboard input modes.
The button shows the icon of the mode you can switch to:
- Keyboard icon displayed: Voice recording is currently active - tap to switch to keyboard
- Mic icon displayed: Keyboard input is currently active - tap to switch to voice
When to Use Keyboard Input
Keyboard input is especially useful in these situations:
- Noisy environments: When background noise makes voice recording impractical (busy job sites, machinery, traffic)
- Correcting text: After voice recording, switch to keyboard mode to fix specific transcription errors
- Adding precise data: When you need to enter exact numbers, codes, or specialized terms that are difficult to convey verbally
- Privacy concerns: When you prefer not to speak aloud in your current location
- Detailed entries: For complex fields that benefit from typed text
Switching Between Modes
Simply tap the KeyboardMicFAB button to toggle between voice and keyboard modes at any time during your recording session. You can switch back and forth as needed.
The app will seamlessly continue building your document as you switch between input methods.
